Let it Flood: Rethinking Urbanism in the Mekong Delta

The richness of the Mekong Delta's nature embodies a series of often contradictory natural and man-made processes. Its water-prone and extremely productive landscape is undergoing rapid territorial (rural and urban) transformations alongside great environmental challenges related to sea level rise and saline intrusion. The lecture will discuss will present RUA's revision of the Cantho Masterplan and on-going design research for the Mekong Delta Regional Plan and Ca Mau Masterplan of climate change, new infrastructure, urbanization and the inherent vulnerability of the territory.
