The MaUSP program is official partner in the European Postgraduate Masters in Urbanism (EMU), a joint program that aims to produce highly qualified, university trained urban designers, physical planners and researchers. The EMU program brings together the strengths and richness of different design approaches and methods, and the long traditions and experiences in urban planning and design of each of the participating universities. In addition to the KU Leuven, it involves the UPC Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), the IUAV Universita IUAV di Venezia (Venezia, Italy) and the TUD Delft University of Technology (Delft, The Netherlands).
Lil Madina is a collective grouping together urban activists in Saida (Lebanon). The collaboration is based on the joint organisation of internships, final thesis studios and workshops, to research and understand the city. The documentatoin, mappings and visions generated support Lil Madina's efforts to promote/advocate for a better and more equitable/sustainable city.
This academic collaboration stems from the concern for the growing social and spatial fragmentation in Ecuador’s largest city, where inequality is strongly linked with access to housing for young urban dwellers. Joint action-research initiatives such as the VLIR-UOS funded short training initative, Designing Inclusion, have been led.
